Why ren-o-baking?

First of all, no, I am not talking about baking Reno, NV!  This whole blog will be devoted to home renovations and baking.  These two go along great because what better to get you through the not-always-so-fun easy-to-get-stressed home renovations than a great sweet treat?

So, to get started, here is a picture of our home:

Such a cute little brick home don't you think?  My husband actually bought this house without me seeing it in person, but I have really grown to love it!  Why hadn't I seen it you may ask?  Well, I was finishing up my master's degree a few states away and my husband had already started his job.  So based on pictures and my sweet husband's advice, we went for it!  Now, when we first bought the house (about a year ago now), we didn't plan on doing too much.  A little paint here and there, and that's about all.  Well, we've had quite a few projects already and the ideas and fun just keep rolling in!

Now, a few words on the outside of the house.  We want to clean a few things up.  Can you see what we're talking about?  Maybe this will help:

First off, that tall metal pole.  Why do we need that???  Apparently the people who lived here previously had a huge addiction to love for tv and felt every room was not complete without cable (noted by the holes and black cables coming through all of our beautiful wood floors).  And somehow that tall pole is used for reception.  We really want to have someone come take it down!  Not only is it an eyesore, but on windy days you can hear it squeak-squakin' in almost every room of the house!  We are not fans.

Now, onto the other arrows.  Things I can handle a little easier.  We inherited a mess of nearly every flower possible.  I may just have to get going on those soon because I don't know how much longer I can take the mess!  Any suggestions for a cute stream-lined look are welcome!  Right now I'm thinking trimming everything back will result in something I can stand until I decide on a more permanent solution.

Well, that will do for the introduction.  Hopefully I can get some before and after pictures along with all the dirty details soon!
